I try my luck at working AO-51. Higher quality over at google video- video.google.com Bracket video – www.youtube.com N1ASA tells us how to correctly do this! www.wku.edu I use Orbitron – Satellite Tracking software. It is free, you can download it from: www.stoff.pl A very good web based site for satellite prediction is www.heavens-above.com Grid squares are used for location. My grid is CM99. You can learn more about this at; www.arrl.org Arrow Antennas- www.arrowantennas.com Randy…

A great way to start out is to join a local Amateur Radio club. You can search for them on Google, or I think also on the ARRL website. They will gladly help you start out with what you need.

The way I started out is buying the ARRL Technician License Study Guide and studying on my own. If youre good at learning on your own, this will be pretty easy.

    few small tips
don’t expect to hear the U downlink through the trees
don’t simply throw in your call
call a station using their call your call

    get their call first
    then call them

lots of stations are trying to use the satellite
    at the same time

    get a copy of
” Getting Started With Amateur Satellites 2009
    from AMSAT

    Hi Randy.
I watched some videos from you on yuotube and wanna say – you’re good teacher for all of us :)
Good work on HT with AO-51. We use it also from RK3DXB Club, and it’s much noise when sattelite come through the Russian territory, that’s thrue.

    Thanks again for video.

Good work with the HT Randy! Have you ever considered using a parabolic dish antenna?

Satellite is overhead for 10-15 minutes, but it is pretty busy. QSOs are short. Randy
